Kamiran is een jonge Syrische vluchteling die in Nederland woont. In dit fotoboek vertelt hij zijn indrukwekkende vluchtverhaal. Met foto’s breng ik in beeld wat er daarna gebeurde, verdeeld in drie fasen: het landen, het integreren en de gezinshereniging. Het boek geeft geen compleet beeld van het integratieproces maar wel een indruk van Kamirans weg naar zijn nieuwe toekomst. Het is mijn bedoeling om met dit fotoboek iets te scheppen waar andere jonge vluchtelingen zich in kunnen herkennen. Maar ik hoop ook dat Nederlanders hierdoor beter kunnen begrijpen wat een jonge vluchteling allemaal meemaakt. Want geloof me: dat is nogal wat.

Kamiran is a young Syrian refugee living in the Netherlands. In this photo book he tells his impressive flee story. With photos I portray what happened next, divided into three phases: landing, integration and family reunification. The book does not give a complete picture of the integration process, but it does give an impression of Kamiran's path to his new future. It is my intention to create something with this photo book that other young refugees can identify with. But I also hope that this will allow the non refugees to better understand what a young refugee goes through. Because believe me: that's quite something.
