Bernard de Graaf tries to find as much time as possible to photograph during daily life and travel. "It teaches you to look at people, understand a city or country better and enriches your experiences. Photography is my passion - the photos tell their own story."
He feels most at home with a style that lies at the intersection of documentary, street photography and black and white photography. "I also like to take pictures of concerts, but I find street photography in black and white more interesting photographically. Colors do not add much in my opinion and the intimacy of black and white gives a dimension to the story that you would otherwise not be able to achieve. It fascinates me to look at people in their environment and to capture them in such a way that the picture tells a story."
Bernard prefers to shoot with his faithful companion the leica.
